LOUIS ARAGON
“I recognize the looks I see in Alain Kleinmann's canvases, as if surprised by our true memory: the writing that crosses them, the spaces that envelop them, the movements in which they shiver seem like pieces torn from reality. Memories of moments in life, a powerful art form that anchors its roots in everyday life itself, and which, out of modesty, self-paraphrases ad infinitum, as if after a long journey through time. Alain Kleinmann's painting belongs to that which is the foundation of art: a path steeped in warm, painful humanity, which overwhelms with its plastic and poetic truth. His themes are our lives: railway stations, public places, crowd movements, relationships between gazes, theatrical scenes, spaces of disquieting whispers, secret masquerades, hopes and glimmers nestling in the shadows. When we contemplate Alain Kleinmann's work, we find ourselves in front of our own depths, one of the paths by which we regain our inner light.”
