Born in Strasbourg in 1985, Flore Sigrist began painting at the age of 7.
Nothing in her immediate environment foreshadowed her exceptional destiny. Her entry into life threw her brutally into the world of suffering: she spent her first three years between home and hospital, which may well have been the origin of her remarkable predisposition for painting and her true vocation in the field.
In 2011 and 2012, she was the second most highly-rated artist under 30 in contemporary painting - Artprice ranking.
In March 2013, a 1998 150×150 work by the artist sold for €104,000 at an auction organized by Sotheby's New York.
Artprice's 2013 “Top 500 contemporary artists” ranking includes 6 French artists: Robert Combas, Philippe Pasqua, Richard Orlinsky, Bernard Frieze, Flore Sigrist and Jacques Tardi. Flore Sigrist is the only French woman to feature in this ranking (in 458th place).
