Catherine LOPÈS-CURVAL French, b. 1954

Born in Bayeux in 1954 and a graduate of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, Catherine Lopes-Curval has a close relationship with the narrative figuration and poetic imagery of Magritte. Her highly personal language revolves around the experiences of everyday life and images of our culture taken from literature, cinema and the press.

Catherine Lopes-Curval's themes deal with human nature and the difficulties of being, with humor and poetry.

Her world is populated by imaginary, stereotyped characters desperately trying to transcend the boundaries of their own existences.
