Mélanie DANIEL Canadian, b. 1972

Mélanie DANIEL was born in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, in 1972. She now works in Tel Aviv.

Her figurative and dreamlike universe transports us into dreams.

Her 20 years close to the war in Israel are expressed in her work.

His personal identity also reflects the hybrid culture and socio-political tensions of his adopted country.

“I hope to induce a sense of dislocation that seems both strange and recognizable. By keeping the dreamlike narrative just out of reach, I let the viewer bring something of their own to the painting. My art is anti-nostalgic because I don't try to rehash real experiences, but invent them at the edge of my perception.” His work can be found in several public collections.
